Teaching Sexual Health 101
This free workshop has been developed to support teachers in the implementation of human sexuality outcomes found in K-9 Health and Life Skills and CALM programs of study. The material presented should be appropriately modified to meet the needs of your students and any specific policies or guidelines outlined by your respective school jurisdiction. Please contact your school administrator as appropriate for approval to participate in this workshop.
Each workshop consists of three modules conducted over a three week period. Workshops are conducted online, and teachers can access the workshop from school or at home during the three week period. Teachers are expected to complete all workshop activities and participate in order to successfully complete this workshop. Upon successful completion of the workshop, teachers will receive a certificate for 12 hours of online training. Workshops are provided by Alberta Health Services. What time are the workshops?
There are no set times for the workshop. You can login from work or home at any time to complete the three modules over three weeks. One module is released per week; so we encourage participants to complete each module on a weekly basis.
How much time will the workshop take?
Comprised of 3 modules, this workshop will take approximately 12 hours to complete of a 3 week period. You can expect to commit about 4 hours per week. Some people may find they more or less time depending on their learning style.
Do I need to install any software to access the workshop?
No. You do not need to install any software to access the workshop. We use Moodle, an Open Source Course Management System (CMS), also known as a Learning Management System (LMS) or a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). Moodle is very similar to other online learning platforms such as D2L, Blackboard, and Drupal which can be accessed by any web browser.
